Shi's Lab is committed to developing innovative solutions in biomedical electronics and microfluidics. Dr. Shi is an assistant professor of Electrical Engineering at College of Charleston since Fall 2023. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Carolina University, Winston-Salem, NC, from January 2022 to July 2023. He finished his PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Cincinnati in 2021, Master's in Material Science and Engineering from University of Science and Technology Beijing, China in 2014, and Bachelor's in Material Engineering from Shenyang Ligong University, China in 2011. In addition, he has served as a Process Engineer at Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) between 2014-2015. He has more than 10 years of experience in the areas of Nano- and Micro-electronic Device Design, Modeling, Fabrication, Process Integration, Electrical Characterization, Data Analysis, Circuit Design and Simulations. He has authored /co-authored several peer reviewed journal articles in the areas of microfluidics, lab-on-chip devices, biosensors, and flexible/ wearable devices.
Dr. Shi's current research focuses on biomedical electronics, microfluidics, lab-on-chip devices, biosensors, wearable and flexible electronics, and the application of machine learning and deep learning in healthcare. His work is dedicated to advancing technology for early disease detection and improving healthcare outcomes.
